So it seems that if you have a Windows PC, you can transfer the file to it and decompress it there, using this 7-Zip. Well, that sure is nice of them, no? But would you believe it, they seem to only offer Windows versions of this 7-Zip. You don't need to register or pay for 7-Zip. You can use 7-Zip on any computer, including a computer in a commercial organization. Upon using a general purpose internet search engine again, I found this is the website of the 7-Zip program.
The same website above tells us we can use this 7-Zip tool to also decompress the file.

So it would seems it's a file archive made using a compression tool called 7-Zip. 7Z is similar to other archived formats, such as ZIP, RAR, and ISO, but uses a higher compression ratio, along with AES-256 encryption. So I tried to search with "What is a 7z file?" and got the following, seemingly trustworthy result:ħZ is the file extension used for an archived file created using 7-Zip, a free, open-source file compression tool. Now what could that be? Maybe a general purpose internet search engine could tell us. How about we try a scientific approach to this?
